Music is the part and parcel of Maizbhandari
Tarika. A quite new style of music evolved centering round Hazrat Gausul Azam
Shah Sufi Maolana Syed Ahmed Ullah Maizbhandari (Ka:), the preacher of this
Tarika. This style of music was found in the beginning of the 20th century. It
created a new trend in the realm of Bengali music. The themes of these songs
were praising the great creator, the secrecy of creation, preaching Maizbhandari
Tarika loving the respective Murshid etc. “Maizbhandari music not only enchants
our soul with heavenly melody but also purifies our soul with sanctity”.

Praises be to Allah, the Merciful, the most Compassionate,
who has blessed us to develop and publish this web page focusing on Maizbhandar
Darbar Sharif and its famous school of thought, in particular; and relevant
issues of Sufism, in general. Maizbhandar Sharif has exceedingly contributed and
adorned not only the contemporary Sufism, but also made an augmented impact on
the socio-cultural profile of the society. The major thrust of the Maizbhandari
School of Thought is to advance the concept of universal humanism, based on the
true teachings of Quran and Sunnah.
The underpinning rationality of the Maizbhandari Philosophy is to support and
encourage the people to become complete human being by purifying their mental
state. In this context, Maizbhandari teachings emphasis the need to understand
religious issues within the attendant condition of broader societal need.
Nevertheless, it would not be complete, if someone fails to understand the
founder of the Maizbhandari Philosophy – Hazrat Gausul Azam Shah Sufi Syed Ahmed
Ullah Maizbhandari, whose achievements had obliterated the distinctions of race,
color and social status; and his representatives who were distinctly blessed by
him in advancing his teachings. Keeping this in view, while providing an
overview of Maizbhandar Sharif; this web page introduces briefly Hazrat Gausul
Azam Shah Sufi Syed Ahmed Ullah Maizbhandari alias Hazrat Kebla Baba, Hazrat
Gausul Azam Golamur Rahman alias Baba Bhandari, Hazrat Delwar Hossain
Maizbhandari, and Hazrat Shahanshah Ziaul Hu Maizbhandari. Obviously their life
sketches will help the readers to grasp better the conceptual foundation of
Maizbhandar Sharif. In addition, the home page highlights the basic principles
of Maizbhandari Philosophy.
This Home page is open for inclusion of any relevant writing on Maizbhandar
Shari and Sufism. This open approach is in covenant with the concept of
liberalism, which is the prime foundation of Maizbhandari philosophy. We believe
such multidisciplinary and broader perspective will provide a platform for the
researchers and interested readers to ventilate their thoughts, which will, in
turn enrich the knowledge and understanding about the Sufism. To this end, a
research-based anthropological article on Sufism – "Pirs: The Semiotic Presence
of Islamic Spiritualists" is included in this home page. We hope, InshAllah,
this home page will include more research works, not only restricted to Sufism;
but also related to other aspects of societal issues relevant to mankind.
The contents of the home page will be reviewed and updated periodically. The
comments and constructive suggestions by the readers will be helpful in further
improving this web page.
